Research Assistant - Boston Children’s Hospital

Job Description: We seek a highly motivated and organized individual to join our efforts to study novel genetic treatment approaches for blood disorders. We are particularly focused on applying genome editing technologies to develop novel treatments for hemoglobinopathies. The selected candidate will work on computational and experimental research projects.

A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably with formal study in bioinformatics/computational biology, molecular and cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, gene therapy, hematopoiesis, systems biology, and/or structural/chemical biology. The candidate must be a responsible individual with strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in scientific research would be an asset. Experiencewith hematopoiesis research is not required, but enthusiasm for learning modern molecular genetic and bioinformatic techniques is essential.
40 hour/week full-time position with flexible hours and competitive salary/fringe benefits. Anticipated start date isas early as winter 2019/2020. A 2-year minimum commitment is strongly preferred. Previous Bauer labresearch assistants have co-authored 15 peer-reviewed original research articles over the past 6 years and have matriculated to competitive graduate school programs.

Research Associate - Charles River, Insourcing Solutions Department, Billerica, Massachusetts

Performs technical laboratory activities in support of client studies or procedures at client site. Performs analysis of data for quality and completeness and determines if results are as expected. Records data in compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Including the following responsibilities relate to role, Prepare and analyze samples by LCMS based on existing assays/protocols and record project data.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Research Associate position:

Education:  B.S./ B.A. degree in a scientific  or related field from an accredited college or university is required
Experience:  Two to  four years of previous laboratory experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or contract laboratory environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
Certification/Licensure:  None 
Other:  Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capabilities. Understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned, as well as Testing Facility SOPs and the Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Strong organization and prioritization skills are required. An attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.  Employee must have the ability to communicate effectively in a small group or one-on-one setting. Basic Microsoft skills are required (for example, Word and Excel).

Equine Care - fulltime position with housing at Fox Ledge Farm, East Haddam, Connecticut.

Fox Ledge Farm has an opening for a full time salaried staff position. The position entails a 5 day work week with structured hourly shifts and full care of a group of horses daily. Care includes feeding, turnout, grooming, tacking up, untacking, cleaning tack, and other barn chores related to operating the stable. We employ a full time stall cleaner so mucking is limited to his day off.

Onsite housing in a private apartment is available. Riding of client or lesson horses can be available depending on the client needs and the staff members’ experience. Employees are offered a discounted boarding rate plus lessons and training of their own horse.
