Pre-Veterinary Medicine Summer Pre-College at UMass June 25 - July 1, 2017

The Pre-Veterinary Medicine program is an immersion experience for high school students seeking to learn about (1) the field of veterinary medicine, (2) the steps involved in successfully completing a pre-veterinary undergraduate program and becoming a competitive candidate for applying to veterinary school, and (3) the time and financial commitments involved in choosing this career path.

The EweMass Wool Blankets are baaaack! Woven in Massachusetts from wool produced in Massachusetts, the blankets contain at least 20 percent wool from sheep at the UMass Amherst Hadley Farm; the blankets also include wool from sheep belonging to alumni or families of alumni.

UMass Amherst Named a ‘Best Value College’ by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine latest rankings, published Dec. 15, rate UMass Amherst as the 46th best value for Massachusetts residents and 52nd for out-of-state students. Both rankings are up 10 places from last year!

UMass Amherst Names New Dean of the College of Natural Sciences

Tricia R. Serio, professor and head of the department of molecular and cellular biology at the University of Arizona, has been named dean of the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst by Provost Katherine S. Newman. Serio is expected to assume her new duties on campus in August 2017.

Shijun J. Zheng, DVM, PhD hosts Dr.s Baldwin and Black at China Agricultural University.

Dr. Cynthia Baldwin and Dr. Sam Black travelled to the China Agricultural University in the fall of 2016, presented seminars and met with a former graduate students, Shijun Zheng, DVM,PhD. and Jun Tang, PhD. Dr. Zheng is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine College of Veterinary Medicine at China Agricultural University.

Belted Galloway Management class honored with Richard C. Anderson Memorial Award

The Belted Galloway Management class was tremendously honored to receive the Richard C. Anderson Memorial Award at the Big E in West Springfield this fall! The award recognizes dedication to the Belted Galloway breed of beef cattle.
