Winter Traveling Dairy 2018

Students and faculty from the Universities of Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire spent January 8-12, 2018 learning firsthand by touring eleven dairy farms in central and northern Vermont including the University of Vermont’s dairy farm facility as well as participating in tours of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream plant, the St. Albans Creamery and the Miner Institute.

UMass Hadley Farm Arena Classroom Renovated

This classroom provides an excellent space at the Hadley Farm facility for Animal Science students to learn the hands-on practical skills pertaining to the daily management and welfare of the student-run UMass Boer Goat herd, Dorset Sheep herd, Equine herd and poultry flock.

Professor Black selected for the Chancellor's Medal

Alfandari Awarded $1 Million Grant to Produce Monoclonal Antibodies for Research

Dominique Alfandari, recently received a four-year, $1 million National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to produce and characterize monoclonal antibodies to proteins in a species of frog, Xenopus, used as a model system for developmental biology and human diseases.

VASCI Alum, Kristina O'Keefe Accepts Position as North Attleboro Animal Control Officer/Shelter Director

Kristina O’Keefe earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science here in 2015. In October of 2017 she shared this story with her former academic advisor, Kathleen Arcaro, saying “I hope this just provides another option for future students.”
