UMass Hadley Farm Erects New Structure to Store Hay

The UMass Hadley Farm has erected a new 30ftx100ft clear span structure to store hay. The new structure will allow more hay to be stored directly at the Hadley Farm and under conditions that are more conducive to proper curing of forages. Prior to construction of the new clear span structure, hay was stored at the South Deerfield Facility and then trailered down to the Hadley Farm throughout the winter. The new structure will reduce labor costs incurred by trucking.  The purchase and construction of the shed was a joint effort between Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment - CAFE and the Veterinary and Animal Sciences Department - VASCI using funding dedicated to the construction and maintenance of buildings. The farm staff and VASCI students and faculty are very excited to have this building available for use for many years to come.
