Leonid Pobezinsky awarded a $3.75 million grant

Dr. Pobezinsky’s research focuses on regulatory mechanisms of the immune system that are mediated by non-coding RNAs. His research team focuses specifically on microRNAs that control the differentiation of T lymphocytes into effector and memory T cells. With this grant, he proposes to enhance the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies using a novel strategy that is based on miRNA-dependent T cell-intrinsic mechanisms of gene regulation.

Dr. Pobezinsky earned his Ph.D. at the Cancer Research Center in Moscow, Russia. Before coming to UMass in 2014, Dr. Pobezinsky conducted research with Dr. Alfred Singer at the Experimental Immunology Branch of the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. In addition to his research, Dr. Pobezinsky teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Immunology and Cancer Biology and trains graduate students.
