UMass Amherst Campus Ranked Among Nation’s Safest

The article, in the online magazine’s Dec. 18 issue, noted that the top schools all made safety a priority, and all had low crime rates and “campus safety initiatives, sexual assault programming and student orgs devoted to safety.”

The university was cited for a number of programs that encourage students to take responsibility for each other’s health and well-being, including UMatter @UMass, the Campus Emergency Response and Medical Reserve Corps, the Coalition to End Rape Culture, and the Off Campus Student Center.

Particularly noted were the university’s efforts for prevention education addressing consent, sexual assault, and healthy relationships, especially through the Center for Women and Community and the Men and Masculinities Center.
