Abigail Needleman graduated summa cum laude in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Science. While at UMass she was a member of the Commonwealth Honors College, was involved in a number of research labs and was a member of the Biological Talent Advancement Program (BioTAP). Under the direction of Dr. Pablo Visconti, she studied potential activation pathways in freshwater Cichlid fish sperm in comparison with known pathways in mammal sperm. Outside of UMass, she interned at Zoo New England and The Museum of Science in Boston. Abigail’s interest in veterinary medicine is focused on wildlife conservation and zoological species. She believes that she can play a role in conserving our environment through species conservation. Abigail chose Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University due to the strong wildlife program and international focus; she will begin her studies there in September.
