Charlotte graduated from UMass Amherst in 2021 with a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Science. She joined the Mager lab during her freshman year and began working on a project identifying novel imprinted genes. Following that, she began her work investigating the role of the gene BLOC-1 Related Complex Subunit 6 (Borcs6) in early embryonic development by characterizing the phenotype of mutant embryos. She completed her honors thesis on this project and looks forward to continuing to explore this gene as she completes an accelerated master’s degree in UMass’ Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Science program. After her master’s, Charlotte hopes to combine her passion for biomedical research as well as her interest in proper use and welfare of animal models by pursuing a joint DVM/PhD program.
