VASCI welcomes new faculty member

Dr. Beltaire grew up in a family of farmers (chiefly dairy cattle) and physicians (both human and veterinary). During her middle-and high-school years, she cared for calves and heifers at local a farm. In college, her animal work expanded to include zoo medicine and research experiences that provided the basis for a volume of adventure stories. She attended and graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine where she was able to complete a series of amazing externships that took her all over the country. Her D.V.M. was followed by an internship in farm animal medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois, where she rode with exceptional mentors and had the opportunity to work with referrals –both routine and rare. Upon completing her internship, she joined a private practice in Pennsylvania’s dairy country, living and working in a James Herriot lifestyle. Ultimately she returned to academia (Cornell University) where she became boarded in Theriogenology and then stayed on for several years as a service chief dividing her time between teaching, clinical work, and research –  with a focus on ruminant and equine reproduction. Currently, she serves as a veterinary clinician in advanced reproductive techniques and as an educator in various areas of animal science. She loves both the teaching and veterinary aspects of her work and considers it an honor to be part of two such exciting and dynamic professions.
