Katie Wilson selected for William F. Field Alumni Scholarship

The William F. Field Alumni Scholars Program was established in 1976 to recognize and honor third-year students for their academic achievements at UMass Amherst. The program was named in honor of William F. Field, the university’s first Dean of Students, for his outstanding support of academic excellence and his personal commitment to bringing out the best in every student.

Katie Wilson was nominated by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences faculty. Katie exhibits academic achievement having an excellent GPA, having been selected for early admission to Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and as member of Commonwealth Honors College.  She also demonstrates excellence in  research working with Dr. Baldwin on a molecular immunology research project focusing on sheep genetic sequences.  Katie provides service to the University of Massachusetts Amherst by serving on the College of Natural Sciences Student Leadership Committee assisting with UMass recruiting events and as an VASCI peer mentor. She is also president of sheep management class, a teaching assistant for the introductory animal science courses, and a volunteer at a local equine assisted learning facility in addition to having completed internships at veterinary clinics, a zoo and a draft horse farm.
