ANIML SCI 497A - Special Topics - Equine Diseases and Health Management

This practical course is designed for students interested in a career in horse farm management.  The course is directed toward hands on experience in general management practices and cooperative work with veterinarians, farriers and other practitioners. p;The course will include:  common pharmaceuticals administered by veterinarians, dental care, hoof care and shoeing, vaccinations, internal parasites and their control, wound types and management, dealing with colic, lameness and periparturient problems in mares, care and diseases of the newborn foal, care of the older horse.
